Maple Tree Description
The Crimson Queen Japanese maple tree is another very popular cultivar because of its uninterrupted deep-red color throughout the year whether it’s in the sun or the shade. It is a dissectum or lace-leaf that grows in a weeping or mound-like shape. The Crimson Queen can get to be 10-12 feet tall and wide if the central branch is led up a stake, or can be any height you desire. In full sun exposure the leaves appear red in the spring and may turn an orange-red color in the summer, returning to a bright scarlet in the fall. If kept in more shade, the color will stay red in spring and summer, brightening to scarlet in the fall. This tree has won the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
