Maple Tree Description

The Skeeter’s Broom Japanese Maple tree was created by a man named Skeeter Rod from New Jersey, found on a red maple as a “broom,” which is a dense mass of shoots coming from a single point. It is an upright tree, reaching 6-8 feet tall and only 3-4 feet wide in 10 years, making it a great specimen for a container or narrow garden space. The small leaves emerge as a bright red in the spring, become a rich purple-red in the summer, and end as a bright scarlet in the fall. Skeeter’s Broom tolerates full sun, but also can be placed in dappled sun or morning sun with afternoon shade (part shade).
