Maple Tree Description

Osakazuki is a sturdy grower with wide, medium-large 5-lobed leaves that form a “cup” at the base and lengthen to narrow tips at the end of each lobe. This is the basis for its name which means “leaf like a saki cup” in Japanese. Leaves emerge as bright green in the spring with red stems, changing to a richer green color in the summer. This tree does well with full sun or shade. Some say Osakazuki has the most intense fall color of all the maples, turning stop-sign red, the brightest red color you can see in nature. It will eventually form a rounded top that ultimately reaches 20-25 feet tall and 10-15 feet wide.
