Maple Tree Description
This Japanese Maple tree is a brand new variety for us at Spirit Hill Nursery, also a brand new cultivar or type. It is an upright, vase-shaped tree that grows to 12-15 feet tall and 8-10 feet wide in 10-15 years. Its leaves are a deeply divided palmate shape with feathery edges. Leaves emerge bright orange in the spring and fade to green in late spring or early summer. The new growth in the spring also displays orange branching. In the fall this tree lives up to its name and turns brilliant yellows, oranges and reds. If that’s not enough excitement, the bark of the newer branches turn orange after the leaves fall off, adding a pop of color to your yard during the winter. We watched these babies grow up over the last year, and we can attest that the colors are stunning. The Orange Flame Japanese Maple tree withstands our hot summers here in Tennessee and can tolerate full sun all year round, but will also do well with some afternoon shade. To achieve the best colors, as always, the more sun exposure the better for sun-tolerant varieties.
