Maple Tree Description
These dwarf Japanese maple tree seedlings are perfect for bonsai or to keep as a container plant. They are the same kind of Japanese maple trees that grow wild in the forests of Japan and what we use as rootstock for our grafted Japanese maples, but were carefully selected for their tiny leaves and tight internodes (the spaces between the branches). These babies will grow slowly until they are no more than 6 feet tall and 4 feet wide at maturity. Seedlings will have variable characteristics in regard to shape, size, and color. In general, the small leaves come out as a light green color in the spring with red or pink edges that fade away to chartreuse green in the summer. Fall brings brilliant orange and red colors, and some seedlings will even turn a purple-red color. Select this tree as a project or hobby to bonsai, or liven up your small outdoor space as a porch or patio tree.
